Swings are a great way to create a comfortable space for you to relax in. There are many options available out there to choose from. You can either go for a wicker or bamboo swing for a rustic feel or go for a plush swing for comfort. They could be hung from the ceiling or maybe put on a separate stand.

Depending on the space available you can leave the rest of the space empty or pair the swing with a correct height coffee table. You can enjoy the sunsets and sunrises or set up some dim lighting to enjoy the night chill.

2. Bar Unit

Most bar units are established in the living room or the den. However, if you have a large enough balcony where you like to entertain guests, a bar unit is a good option. The bar unit can vary based on the square footage available. It would include a few bar-style stools or chairs, liquor cabinet and a counter.

Based on the environment you live in, choose the material to build the unit carefully. The best option would be metal or hardened composite. It is a great place to entertain guests and also adds a tone of elegance to your balcony.

3. Wicker Chairs

If you want to add some rustic feel to your balcony while living in the city, wicker chairs are good options. While wicker furniture in the early years was made purely with natural materials like bamboo and reeds, today wicker furniture made of synthetic materials is available. To keep the flow seamless, you can buy other wicker furniture like lamps and tables for your balcony. If this feels like too much wicker then a glass or solid wood coffee table is a  good way to go.

4. Picnic Table

To get a feel of dining in the park at home, you can set up picnic furniture on the balcony. For this to work, you would require a balcony large enough for you to move around comfortably. A large wooden table with two benches on each side will do the trick. To improve the outdoor dining experience, surround your balcony with plants. Even better, cover the floor with grass carpeting for the complete package. This space could act as a place for children to play around and also as a secondary dining location for the whole family.

5. Wooden Chairs/Benches

If you are looking for some warm tones in your balcony, then you might go vintage and get solid wooden chairs and benches. The freshly varnished wood is very comfortable, especially when paired with cushions and adds3 a warm and comforting tone to the balcony. Use bright and colourful cushion covers to work with the warmth of the chairs. You can also lay a patterned rug to go with the chairs. Place a few potted plants to add some green with all the brown tones.

6. Outdoor Living Room

An outdoor living room is a perfect option if you have a big balcony. A sofa, coffee table and a few chairs or stools will complete the look. When buying furniture, go for material which can handle environmental factors like rain and dust. They should also be easy to clean if needs arrive. Rather than using a rug like in an indoor living room, use a carpet of artificial grass for an outdoor feel. Wicker furniture is the best for such a setup as it could withstand the exterior.

7. Garden Seating

Until unless you live on the ground floor, chances of you having a garden are slim. However, if you have an enthusiastic green thumb or just like to have a touch of nature in your home, you can cover the complete balcony with artificial grass. Rather than setting up chairs and tables, you can lay down brightly coloured pouffes or bean bags for a casual feel. This helps open up a lot of space for you to plant in and the seating arrangement is more fluid. It is a great space to escape daily hoopla or entertain some close friends.

8. Foldable Chairs

They are also a good addition to your balconies. Solid wood foldable chairs are very comfortable. They come in varying sizes. You can go for a simple chair or something larger to put your feet up. The advantage is that they can be folded to make more space if necessary and can be moved in.

The idea is to no be confined to a simple chair. Whether you sit straight or lay down, this setup is all about keeping your comfort primary. This is a good space to have your cup of coffee, read a book, do some yoga, or entertain friends. The best part is as there is no designated furniture, the use of this space remains versatile.

Creating an elevated wood platform is a good way to add some nature to your balcony, while still leaving some space which can be used for other purposes. The wooden deck can act as a place for you to create a small garden style sit out with stools and a coffee table. Lay down some grass carpet and pot some plants and you have your personal zen space. While this is set up, the leftover space can be set up in any of the above-mentioned ways.
